Ambar Porter
Ambar Porter, a member of CUNY’s LGBTQ leadership program, is pushing for sex education to be available for high school and college-aged queer students. She recalls desiring to be part of her high school’s LGBTQ club, which was cut due to lack of funding. Ambar found community through her school band where she met many of her queer classmates. There, she also discovered her admiration for David Bowie. “I loved his style and that song [Rebel, Rebel] really stuck out to me...Because he was androgynous too, and that's a big part of who I am.”
